Chicagoland Community Management is pleased to announce a partnership for residential electricity service with Community Green Challenge and Cost Containment, which can deliver a cost savings directly to you. Cost Containment, a utility consultant, provides Association common area electricity rate savings to many of our properties.

As you may or may not be aware, Illinois is a deregulated utility market. Meaning, you as the consumer can shop for a utility rate for your home’s electricity, just as most your communities do for your common areas. Most of you currently obtain electricity from ComEd, at their standard rate. This month, the ComEd rate is 8.4 cents/kWh. The choice is yours, but with no contract fees you simply save money just by being a part of this program.  The rate ComEd charges for electricity has been set for the next year by the Illinois Power Agency and the Illinois Commerce Commission.

Our partnership program offers you electricity at 6.4 cents/kWh with a 12, 18 or 24 month contract.  This is the lowest published fixed rate available.  There are many choices for residential service, and some have a substantially higher rate.  ComEd will continue to deliver the electricity and will still provide emergency service as they currently do.  There would be one bill from Champion Energy if you chose to take part in this program which will include the ComEd delivery and tax portions of your bill.

In addition to a direct cost savings to you, Cost Containment will award a renewable energy installation every time we achieve the 10,000 green points. We will draw an Association randomly to receive this installation, which includes the board’s choice of: solar panel installation, wind turbine or a car charging station.
